Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital

Do you know the original purpose of this large house on the road to Welwyn, which is now being renovated and extended?
This was the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital, which was built shortly after her death, to provide medical care for the residents of Codicote, Welwyn, and the 3 Ayots. It was superseded in this purpose by the present building in School Lane, Old Welwyn, between the World Wars. Since then, it has since been a private house and, more recently, apartments.
What is it now being converted into? If you know, do get in touch with us at info@codicotelocalhistorysociety.co.uk
